the problem is winxp, go to start menu then to programs ea games then to then to battlefield 1942 then right click on battlefield 1942 go to properties then to compatibility then check run this program in compatibility mode and pick windows 2000 and if that doesnt work try other ones, not sure if it will help but give it a try anyway and dont download dx9
